Chinese Cultural Activities
In order to enable children to learn about and appreciate Chinese culture from an early age, we aim to nurture their ability to value the beauty and goodness of traditions while fostering a sense of belonging to the nation. Since Chinese culture is closely connected to daily life, the school organizes various celebrations—such as the Mid-Autumn Festival, Lunar New Year celebrations, Flower Market visits, and the Dragon Boat Festival—to further expand children’s understanding of its different dimensions. Through these events, children can experience the festive atmosphere while gaining knowledge about traditional Chinese festivals and customs.
In addition, the school regularly hosts Chinese cultural activities, including a Chinese Culture Week, where children engage in experiences that showcase the unique characteristics of Chinese traditions. Examples : shadow puppetry, ink painting, dough figurine making, and enjoying Chinese music and songs. All these activities are designed to promote the richness of Chinese cultural heritage.
Activity Name: Dragon Boat Festival Activity
Activity Content:
Children and the elderly made rice dumplings (zongzi) together and enjoyed the fun of the process, followed by tasting them during snack time. In addition, the children observed dragon boats, then worked together to design one as a group and created their own boats to sail on the water. Finally, a parent-child dragon boat rowing activity was held, where parents and children experienced rowing and the power of teamwork together. This promoted parent-child relationships and allowed the children and their families to learn about important traditional activities in Chinese culture.
